Franz Ferdinand are a Scottish rock band based in Glasgow named after Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. frans ferdinand As of 2006, Franz Ferdinand are composed of Alexander Kapranos (lead vocals, lead guitar), Robert Hardy (bass guitar and backing vocals), Nicholas McCarthy (rhythm franz ferdiand guitar, keyboard, backing vocals), and Paul Thomson (drums, backing vocals).

History

In late 2001, singer and guitarist Alex Kapranos and bassist Robert Hardy began playing franx ferdinand music together in Glasgow. After meeting Nicholas McCarthy at franz ferdinend a party, they began to rehearse together at McCarthy's house.
